One of the innovators
and most well-known bands of the Deathcore genre, Whitechapel recently
claimed that 'Deathcore is dead.' While it may be dying due to being flooded
with bands continuing to take the same approach which leads to repetitiveness,
some rise above. I Killed Everyone are one of those bands, with their
debut album 'Dead Peasants' they have created something that is enough to stand
out and make people notice this brutal bunch.
I Killed Everyone have been active
since 2008 with a Demo and an EP under their belts. This full length album is
definitely just as impressive as any other debut LP I've heard. Deathcore may
be slowly dying or already dead to some people, but it's great to see some
bands such as these guys making impressive music and keeping it interesting at
the same time. There are breakdowns galore on here, but they're some of the
best breakdowns in the genre that I've heard since early Whitechapel and
Rose Funeral. I don't know much about I Killed Everyone as I've
only just discovered them, but I can tell you that they are well worth checking
out if you're a fan of the genre. They stay true to the Deathcore sound in
every sense of the meaning but also they do a great job of keeping the listener
from getting bored and asking themselves 'Didn't I just hear that before?'
Each member of the
band sounds tight and showcases a wide range of talent, although I have read
that there have been a few line-up changes here and there. The vocals are absolutely
devastating and heavy, with some insane low growls that fit the music
perfectly. Another thing I noticed was the use of keys on this album; they've
used just the right amount and haven't gone overboard like some bands tend to.
If you're one of those people who are tired and bored with how the Deathcore
scene has turned out, then this album probably won't change your mind. But if
you're like me and still have a soft spot for heavy as fuck breakdowns,
chugging riffs and brutal vocals, then you'll love this just as much as I did.
I really hope I Killed Everyone can gather a stable line-up and continue
to provide us with some top notch, quality Deathcore. You can really tell that
they are passionate and very talented, which will be enough to see success for
this great band. Check out 'Dead Peasants' right now!
