Rhys Giles of Resist The Thought Interview.

Congratulations on the release of 'Sovereignty' earlier this year, how was it to go and record an album in America with a well renowned producer?

Heading overseas to America was a dream come true, especially recording at the Lambesis Studios where some of my favourite bands have recorded and I was so happy with how the record turned out.

You toured with All Shall Perish late last year, how much fun was it to tour with a band you admire and respect so much?

Touring with All Shall Perish was seriously the biggest dream come true. They were the band that got me into playing music. I used to sit in the bath and copy the Price Of Existence from start to finish. It was also so amazing that Eddie from All Shall Perish sung on our new record. He is truly an amazing person and so down to earth, the whole band is.

Are there any plans on your band heading overseas any time soon?

We are having a bit of a break from the music scene, it's been a full on 5 years for us, so it's good to have a little break for a bit. Then get back into it, hopefully heading overseas to Europe for some shows.

What are some other bands that have influenced Resist The Thoughts sound?

Bands that have influenced me a lot are Whitechapel and All Shall Perish which I think Resist The Thought gets a lot of its sound.

As a band that tours Australia and sees the country, what are some of your favourite places to play live?

Favourite places to play would have to be the towns that don't get much live music and are grateful of the bands that tour there. So any regional parts of Australia are always good fun and the kids have no shame on letting loose and banging their heads.

If you could play live with any 3 bands in the World, who would they be?

Three bands I'd love to play with would be Queen, you're all probably going to laugh at me when I say that, but they have a massive influence on me as a kid getting into music and writing. I'd love to tour the States or Europe with Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder or All Shall Perish. That'd be awesome.

You have an amazing vocal style. How did you come into Death Metal vocals and do you have any tips for your fans?

Well for me personally, I just used to sit in the bath as I was saying before and try to sounds every way possible like Eddie from All Shall Perish. I used to push myself and always try different things to sound different and unique. I think that's what makes any band pushing boundaries and doing things different, but cool if you get me haha.

What are some other Aussie Metal bands that have you think readers should check out?

The Australian music scene is going crazy at the moment. A band that really impress me at this present day would have to be Stories, a band based in Sydney that are so fucking heavy. The vocalist destroys!

Any last words for the readers?

Last words would be if anyone loves music give it a try, push your limits, try do things and don't let anyone tell you that you can't. If they do just scream in there face. I was just a kid with a passion for music and it's been a long time. I've seen the roads and I've done the hard yards. Now it's time for people to step up and show everyone what the Australian Hardcore/Metal scene is capable of, and right now it's awesome.

Thank you for taking the time to answering the questions and I look forward to seeing yourself and Resist The Thought playing shows again soon.
