Thy Art Is Murder - Hate

Once every now and again you have the pleasure of hearing an album that oozes perfection, Thy Art Is Murder have delivered something special that will stand the test of time as an absolute classic.

There aren't too many people that I know who haven't heard Thy Art Is Murder, ever since the Infinite Death EP back in 2008 was released this band have become one of the biggest and well-liked in the genre. Delivering some of the most devastating and brutal breakdowns known to man, along with infectious guitar riffage, demonic vocals and drumming that is simply World class. This newest album 'Hate' is one of the best produced albums that I've heard in a very long time. Also I am quite confident in saying that it's also the best thing this band have ever done and will go down as one of the heaviest and greatest albums of 2012. I can't pick anything wrong with 'Hate' at all; you know you're listening to an amazing album when you have no urge whatsoever to skip a single track. From start to finish, it leaves you satisfied yet wanting more at the same time.

After releasing 'The Adversary' back in 2010, I have been anticipating their next release ever since. Now that's it's here I am absolutely stoked with the direction they've gone and how it turned out. Thy Art Is Murder have had a couple of line-up changes over the last couple of years just like a lot of bands, but it's clear now that they've found the perfect structure to keep this machine running. One of the most impressive things about 'Hate' is front man CJ McMahon's vocals, a massive improvement from the last album. He sounds like a demonic beast with crushing lows and spine-chilling highs that are as good as any other vocalist doing this style of music. The breakdowns on this album are some of the best I've heard, mixed in with intense blast beats and insane guitar riffs. You really do have to hear this album to understand how heavy 'Hate' actually is. There are also a couple of special guest vocalists on here as well, Joel Birch (The Amity Affliction) and Nico Bronson (War From A Harlots Mouth) who both fit like a glove on each track. It may sound like I'm taking favour in this band a little much, but it really is that good and I know many others that will agree. Falling just shy of forty minutes, it's the perfect length for an album like this because it has no repetiveness and boring filler which is kind of a rarity these days.

With many people saying that the Deathcore genre is dead and gone, it's bands like Thy Art Is Murder who are redefining things and keeping it all alive. This album is indeed a masterpiece and a true Aussie classic that we can all be proud of. I don't know too many people that have a bad thing to say about this band, and with releases like this it's easy to understand why. Thy Art Is Murder are the true leaders of brutal and heavy music in Australia and pretty soon the whole entire World will feel exactly the same way. Go and buy this right now at JB HI-FI or on iTunes and support Aussie Metal \m/

Standout tracks: Purest Strain Of Hate, Shadow Of Eternal Sin and Defective Breed.

  1. 10/10 what a joke, the only conclusion to be drawn here is you're obviously gay with the lead singer .....
